Don’t miss this big list of free baby stuff: 15+ free baby items, samples, baby registry boxes, and more! Taking advantage of freebies like this is one of the easiest ways to save as a new parent-to-be!

Expecting a little one or welcoming a new baby through adoption or fostering can feel like the most exciting adventure you’ll ever embark on. But it can also feel like it gets expensive quickly! Between diapers, formula, clothes, and gear, the costs can add up. But, there are so many ways to save money on baby items — and one of those is through signing up for baby freebies!

Did you know you can score baby freebies, free baby samples, and baby welcome boxes from a number of different companies? Think of it like a fun treasure hunt: a few minutes of sign-ups here and there can yield items you’d otherwise pay for, giving you peace of mind and extra savings when your budget feels stretched.

Here’s an up-to-date roundup of programs and registries that regularly send out samples, coupons, or full welcome kits. I’ll also share information on who’s eligible, how to sign up (and any purchase or registry requirements), and provide tips for keeping track so you don’t miss deadlines:

When you create an Amazon Baby Registry, add at least 10 unique items to it, and have $10 spent (by you or gift-givers), you become eligible for a free Welcome Box (as long as you’re an Amazon Prime member).

The contents vary over time but often include samples (e.g., wipes, lotion, small toys) and coupons for baby essentials. To claim:

We got this and I loved some of the items in it. We used them over and over again!

By creating a MyGerber account, you can opt in for infant formula samples, coupons, and periodic “surprise” offers. During sign-up, indicate you’d like to receive free samples — provide your address so they can ship when available.

Enfamil’s program (“Enfamil Family Beginnings”) lets you register (enter birthdate/due date, etc.) to receive free formula samples, coupons, and other perks (up to ~$400 in savings). You may get sample packs in the mail, digital or paper coupons, and chances to win a year’s supply of formula.

BuyBuyBaby has transitioned to a fully online model, and the traditional in-store “Goodie Bag” is no longer available. You can, however, still create a registry through the Bed Bath & Beyond/MyRegistry platform and you’ll receive a one-time completion discount.

Hint: Most other baby registries offer some sort of completion discount, as well! So keep an eye out for that.

Joining MySimilac Rewards is free and can help you get formula samples, coupons, and a welcome kit. This also often includes a free Shutterfly photo book offer, small sample packs to try different Similac formulas, and digital/paper coupons.

Through Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, registered children (birth to age 5) in participating communities receive one free, high-quality book mailed each month. It’s not one of the free baby boxes, but it’s a recurring freebie that encourages reading and arrives automatically once you register.

Our kids LOVE the free books that come in the mail through this. In fact, some of the books are ones we have read probably a hundred times and that they ask for me to read them every night before bed! (Their current before-bed favorite from the Imagination Library is Help Wanted: One Rooster!)

Under the Affordable Care Act, most health plans must cover breastfeeding equipment (including breast pumps) at no cost to you, as long as the plan is not grandfathered. You typically get a pump through your insurance network or via a designated supplier.

Verify that your health insurance plan covers breastfeeding benefits (or call member services or your doctor for a recommendation). Then, you can obtain a prescription or letter of medical necessity from your provider if required.

Note: I was all excited about this freebie when I got pregnant with Micah as my sister had gotten a really expensive breast pump for free through her insurance. I went through the whole process (which is fairly in-depth) and they offered me a refund of up to $30 for a breast pump. So just know that it varies widely from insurance to insurance!

Walmart relaunched a free baby registry box program in February 1, 2025. Typically, after creating a registry, keeping it active (e.g., 7 days), adding a minimum number of items, and having $25+ spent (by you or gift givers), you can claim a free Welcome Box containing samples (diapers, wipes, lotion, etc.).

You can read more about the Walmart baby box I got here.

In Canada, registering on Nestlé Baby & Me (NestleBaby.ca) may enter you into offers, newsletters, and occasional sample promotions. Availability can vary regionally.

If you have a toddler, Enfamil’s site sometimes offers sample requests for Enfagrow toddler drink. You may sign up or join Family Beginnings to see if toddler samples are available.

Joining Motherhood Maternity’s Perks or loyalty program often yields coupons, occasional free gift bags with samples (maternity/baby-related), and exclusive deals for clothing or baby gear. Emails may contain codes for free or deeply discounted items.

Babylist’s Hello Baby Box costs a small shipping fee ($8.95 + tax) but contains higher-value samples (bottles, pacifiers, diapers, lotion, etc.). It’s one of the more highly praised boxes, because it comes with such high value, quality items and is totally worth the shipping cost.

Requirements: complete about 40% of registry checklist, add 3+ items from other stores, make a minimum $30 purchase in Babylist Shop, confirm your address, and pay shipping. Limit one box per household per year.

Occasionally, Babylist Hello Baby Box includes coupons for a free Unicorn baby swaddle (just pay shipping).

Grab a pair of Tiny Explorings baby shoes (just pay shipping), while supplies last. They run this promo pretty frequently, so if it’s sold out or not live when you check, be sure to check back!

Many sites (e.g., FreeStuffFinder) track “just pay shipping” deals for baby items. These offers rotate frequently and availability can change day to day. Examples (verify before ordering):

Because these “just pay shipping” freebies are promotional, they may end or change.

Good Start Baby sometimes partners with Dr. Brown’s for sample promotions. Just visit the Good Start sample-request page and follow any prompts to sign up.

Target offers a baby registry gift bag that’s full of coupons, samples, and freebies (a $100+ value)! And, it’s so easy to get. Just go here and set up a free Target baby registry account. (You don’t even need to actually add things to your registry to qualify!)

After you register, you’ll get a bar code you can print out and take to the customer service desk at your local Target to get your free Target baby registry gift bag.

I did a whole post about what my Target baby registry gift bag included — so many amazing freebies and coupons, including a coupon for 50% off a Starbucks drink!

Scoring free baby stuff can sometimes seem like a fun treasure hunt, and I hope this list helps you get off to a good start! Each small sample or box can offset some newborn costs and help you try products before committing.

Keep a list of deadlines and requirements, set calendar reminders to check back, and celebrate each win. You’ve got this — and a little planning goes a long way toward easing the budget strain when baby arrives!

Tracking your budget doesn’t have to be overwhelming or complicated!
